Only in the Life of Tashi....

My roommate Sarah and I had dinner this evening consisting of a bowl of broccoli cheese soup, cajun shrimp & chicken pasta and peanut butter pie at tgi fridays. While enjoying our dinner and discussing our daily gossip we began discussing how entertaining our lives are together while living in apartment 12201 in Chatham Square. Here is what she and I have come up with to describe our often kooky lives... enjoy! :)


You Know You Live in Apartment 12201 when....

- you sit on your couch not saying a word to each other then out of the blue one of you yells.. TELEMUNDO at the top of their lungs.
- the fact that it takes google, a kitchen towel, and a couple bottle twists to finally open a bottle of pink champagne while nearly putting a hole in your dining room wall.
- Drinking wine out of a box while taking a photo shoot and pairing it while sourcream and onion pringles and cuts of sharp cheddar cheese.
- while browsing through the target ad online no words are exchanged except for "oh look, that shits on sale!"
- the fact that you make mom's homemade meatloaf in a cake pan and it takes approx 2 hours to complete.
- you pull bunches of hair out of the bathtub drain with your barehands instead of calling the mechanic.
- your toliet takes approx 15 mins to stop running after being flushed and will almost always overflow if your not careful.
- you go grocery shopping once a week, but never have enough food in the house.
you come home from work and exchage stories about your days at work which almost always end in damn you free dine and everyday is not always magical.
- you have a dance party in your car to gladys knight and the pips song midnight train to georgia with no shame.
- you know your lingo has effected each others brains when you hear my life is shambly and hot mess more than once a day.
- your gps attempts to take you to the magic kingdom but fails.
- you cant decide what to watch. lifetime, project runway or politics.

and so much more. There are always good times and unpredictable moments in 12201 and i love every minute of it.

I promise i have not fallen off the face of the earth... at least not yet :)

Many of you are wondering. What the heck happened? Where did tash go? The past couple of weeks have been crazy busy beyond belief and i feel at one point i forgot that i even created my blog ( sad i know). With crazy busy lives do come more to write and talk about in blogs so here i go on with my ramblings of the past couple of weeks...

My best friend Jenn has came and went and it was lovely to see her. Since her visit we havent talked much because we have both been so busy. But i miss her very much and cant wait to see her again. It was a great time while she was here.

My sister just left recently as well. She came down to see me with her boyfriend Chad and of course with that always comes drama. Yelling and fighting werent avoidable when they were here, but that comes with any relationship. My sister loved her time here and it was so great to see her. I feel now that we are older we are becoming closer and i love that. I loved getting to show her my life in orlando, not only the disney parks and my job, but my apartment and things i do on my off time. It was great to have a piece of my family here to see me, so good that i teared up when her time here was done and she left for the plane.

in between visits from friends and family i have been working my ass off ( literally) lol. My job has been intense lately with lots of double shifts and crazy free dining going on that i am always busy but i do enjoy it because i get to make money and spend time with the people i love to work with. If only we could get rid of those not so magical guests... lol This next week i will begin training the new cps coming to the all-star. Thats right I am an offical DISNEY TRAINER! Its very exciting its one more foot in the door to learn more things and hopefully be with Disney full time. Something im hoping for and working hard to achieve. (fingers crossed!)

On the boy front, i met a boy from work. Things have been going good, but no offical relationship yet. Considering my past relationships im in no hurry to rush anything, im just having fun and enjoying life!

In other news... Sarah ( my roommate) and I have been having a good time chillin and holding down the apartment. Tonight i made my moms homemade meatloaf for dinner and after almost 2 hours and lots of poking and prodding it was a delicious success and almost as good as moms. Sarah and I sat at our kitchen table for the first time since i have moved here. We put the potatoes meatloaf and greenbeans on the table and had a "family dinner" together lol. We also went all out and bought pink champagne and my favorite franzia ( yes its wine out of a box but its classy!) haha!
After almost killing each other and putting holes in our walls we opened the bottle of champagne poured it into our flutes and enjoyed.

The box of Franzia is sitting in the fridge happily chilling and waiting for its opening tomorrow after work. ( which will be much needed!)

its been busy here at the mouse's house!

Hello there all!

life here at the mouse's house has been busy lately. Sorry my blog updates havent been as frequent as i would have liked. I have been busy working, hanging out with a boy, hanging out with all my friends here, and not getting much sleep. Im loving my job and the people im meeting each and everyday.

besides working i have just been enjoying my life here. Things so far are great.

in other news... My best friend Jenn from home comes to visit me in 2 days! im so excited! i cannot wait to see her! its been way to long! i have 4 days off when she is here that is why i have been super busy working 7 days in a row! (crazy!) lol!

The week in review...

Hey guys so it has been awhile since my last update. when i left you last i was waiting the arrival of my new roommate. well, it has been a week since that last update and since then alot has been going on.

My new roommates name is sarah. she is from michigan and is a really friendly girl. But living with another person is not always easy at first. It has been hard for me to get used to other people's living habits that may be different than mine, but i know she is a good person and in time we will both adjust to each others way of life.

on another note, i have been hanging out with my work friends, working alot and making some $!! and in the newest news, i got asked out on a date this past week.

This was my first date since my ex-boyfriend broke up with me in feburary and it was nice to know that i was still approachable in peoples eyes and that my dating life can begin and i can enjoy every minute of it.

My first date with Zach was this past tuesday we went to the movies and hung out and got to know each other, things have been going well and i know that if i take my time to fall for someone this time and i get to know them extremly well, I may not have to go through as much hurt as i did in my past. He is a very nice guy, and im glad my dating life is blossoming! :)

So, as you can see i have been rather busy and things have been going great here in orlando. I love it!

My best friend Jenn comes in a little over 10 days to visit im so excited!

my little sister's birthday is this coming wednesday she will be 19 i cant believe how fast time flys.

Well guys, thats my week in review, now off to go work for the mouse! More updates soon!

Who could it be now???

ANTICIPATION, NERVOUS, FEAR..

These 3 words come to mind when i think of tomorrow. Tomorrow is the day i get a new roommate. I dont know why im feeling these three emoitions, because i know deep down inside that this roommate is going to be fun and happy to be here, but wondering what she is like beforehand can often create these 3 feelings i have inside.

All I know, is that I want my new roommate and I to get along and become good friends so I am going into tomorrow with an open mind and a huge smile on my face ready to greet her with open arms.

The note I recieved on my front door from housing says that she could arrive starting at 9am tomorrow or any time after. I'll be ready when she arrives.

In other news, today was my Friday at work so now i have the next 2 days off to relax, enjoy, and get to know my new roommate should be and interesting next couple of days.

Things have been great here. I love my job, i have met so many wonderful people and of course how cool is it that the Disney parks are 5 minutes from my apartment. ( soo perfect!) :)

I have been busy but i love every minute of it. It will be exactly one week tomorrow that my roommate has left. I have enjoyed having time to myself in my apartment but a new roommate could move in at any moment! im nervous, excited and anxious about it all. I just hope the next roommate i get loves to be here as much as i do. Because if so, we will get along great and my adventures here will be even greater than they already are! :)

Besides enjoying the parks i have been spending time with my new friends here seeing movies such as tranformers 2! (amazing!) my sisters keeper ( so good!) and public enemies today! ( loved it!) of course i cant forget about my movie addiction while im here. My love for movies will never die! lol!

In other news, i cant believe today is July 1st! time has been flying by already! i will be working the 4th, but maybe i can do a little something after work. if not no biggie everyone here is working anyway!

exactly 29 days till my best friend Jenn comes to visit for 4 days! cannot wait!

so much to catch up on...

Hey guys! ok, so i know i said i would update soon! but, life has been crazy busy here at the mouse's house. In between working, and meeting new people i spend my off days at the parks or hanging with the new friends i meet. These past 2 off days i spent at seaworld with friends from work ( soo fun!) pics soon! and of course running errands.



The latest news is that my roommate left today. She decided to up and leave the program and so now im in my one bedroom apartment alone until the new roommate comes along... an exciting new adventure is about to happen.. :)



other than that been working the front desk @ the all-star resorts meeting new people and having a great time!

I've earned my ears... training complete!!!

Hey there guys! Yesterday was my last day of on the job training i offically got to remove my "earning my ears" ribbon off of my nametag and will now be on my own at the front desk of the all-star resorts starting tonight at 6pm. This whole week i have late night shifts on my own. I am not worried about them at all. I feel confident in myself and the training i recieved and I am really excited to have my time to shine now. I will work the 6pm-2:30am gifts for awhile, but these do not bother me because not only am i used to working late nights from jobs i have had in the past, but this is part of the hospitality industry, a degree i went to school for and a job that I am working at in Disney! I am so happy that i have this position and i know only good things will happen from here!

other than that, i have been meeting awesome people from my job and i have the next two days off. ( tues and wed) tomorrow I will be visting the parks, running errands, and making plans for my best friend to come visit in late July!

on the job training... halfway complete!

Hey all! So, these past 3 days have been long, but i have been having sooo much fun! I have been doing my on the job training at the all-star resorts for my front desk position. There is alot to know and learn and i was nervous on Sunday when i began my otj training to meet my trainer. I ended up becoming one of the lucky new cps! my trainer is awesome! he is from scotland and has been a disney cp at the front desk for almost a year now. He is very knowledgable about the front desk at all-star and has introduced me to only the best and friendliest people that are going to be my bosses and fellow castmembers! I have progressed well in training since sunday and now i get the next two days off work! ( today and thursday!) yaay! I will be hanging out with a friend that i recently met down here tomorrow and as for today i got some groceries for my apartment in chatham and got my copy of the dave matthews cd yesterday! SOO AWESOME! i am so excited to continue my training on friday and start working on my own on monday! life at the mouse's house is beyond great right now and i cant wait to share more with you guys soon!

ITS TIME TO BE A PIECE OF THE MAGIC....

QUICK UPDATE:

Tomorrow i begin my otj ( on the job training) for disney's all-star resorts as a front desk cashier. I will begin my training at all-star sports from 1pm-9:30pm for the next 3 days. Im full of emotions right now. Im nervous, excited and anxious all at the same time. Im nervous to interact with my first customers and apply the system techniques i learned. I just want to shine and not mess up. Im excited because this experience will be lifechanging and im anxious cuz i just want to start working. LOL! its crazy how tomorrow i will not just be a castmember, but i will finally be that castmember who takes what they have learned in training and applied those skills to their job. I am now part of the magic that makes disney and i couldnt be more proud to have this opportunity!!!

Mission: Disney University First Impressions Training= COMPLETE!!! :)

Above is a picture of the place i have spent my last four days of first impressions front desk training. All of these four days consisted of learning about front desk operations in a classroom setting, learning the reservations system and of course bringing the disney magic into our jobs. As working in a hotel and with a hotel reservation is new to me. Alot of this training was often scary, and nerve racking like it is with beginning any new job, but it is also so exciting and i am so happy to have a position in the hopsitality field which is what my degree is in and this front desk experience will be an amazing addition to my knowledge and skills in the hospitality industry and i cannot thank the disney company enough for not only giving me this wonderful, once in a lifetime internship, but for giving me something that will better effect my furture endeavors! :) i cant stop smiling enough and i have only been here 1 week!

Today, we finished first impressions and now my training will continue with on the job training at my resort which is the all-star sports resort! I have next next few days ( thrus and friday off!) which will be spent sleeping in, running errands, and of course going to the parks!!! yaay free admission! after these off days i begin my resort orientation on saturday and then begin on the job training starting sunday!

Im nervous and anxious, but so excited to finally begin working my front desk job!

This past week has been a rollercoaster of emotions and i cant stop smiling! i feel like its all a dream... A DREAM COME TRUE THAT IS!!! :)

It all began with a Disney Tradition....

Hey Guys, So yesterday (friday) i began my Disney Traditions Class. Mine was at 1:30pm so i got to sleep in. I took the bus which drives us to Disney University. Once there, we get placed in a type of "classroom" setting and Former Disney Alumni of the college program etc teach the class to us. The Disney Traditions class consists of the history of disney, some fun triva, games, and of course disney rules and regulations. I LOVED THIS CLASS! although many of you may feel like it is boring when hearing about it, think again. THIS CLASS WILL MAKE YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH EVERYTHING DISNEY!! :) after my class, i came home to my roommate Judy making us a Spaghetti dinner ( yumm!) her traditions class was earlier in the day so she made it home before me. After dinner, we decided to go to EPCOT. During traditions, not only do you learn alot, but you recieve your disney name tag and free disney pass to enter all the parks for free. ( a HUGE perk of being a disney castmember!) Since we recieved those 2 items earlier that day, we decided to go to the parks for free for the first time as a castmember. We walked around the world at Epcot, walked into some merch stores, and as we walked toward the busses to head back to our apartment, we caught a glimpse of the awesome fireworks show: Illuminations Reflections of Earth. SOOO COOOL! We closed off our night by relaxing, and now i have today off and will be doing laundry, relaxing and going to the parks later.

I MADE IT TO THE MOUSE'S HOUSE FOR MY COLLEGE PROGRAM!!! :)

Yesterday, May 20, 2009 I ARRIVED IN DISNEY WORLD TO CHECK IN AT VISTA WAY AND BEGIN MY COLLEGE PROGRAM EXPERIENCE!!!! :)



The journey here was long and lots has occured since arrving here yesterday! It all began with graduating my college Western Illinois University on Saturday May 16, 2009 at 4pm (pictures coming soon!) then driving 3 1/2 hours home, sleeping, and getting up the next morning and driving to our first stop before arriving in disney. We drove the 5 hours to metropolis IL, slept, got up and drove the 6 1/2 hours to georgia, slept then drove the 5 1/2 hours to orlando florida! yaay! for those of you that dont know florida is experiencing downpours of up to 4 inches of rain! its been raining non stop here and its kind of annoying but i know there will be sunny and beautiful weather days ahead!!! besides the rain once we arrived we checked into the holiday inn across from vista way on tuesday may 19 we slept there then got up yesterday morning to check in at vista way early and way before 9am! ( get there early guys, cuz it will be crazy!!) :). after check in my roommate and friend Judy and I recieved chatham a one bedroom which is so spacious and pretty! then spent time in information sessions one at 1030am and one at 3pm. ( lots of disney info to learn here!) after that my parents helped judy and I move into our AWESOME chatham apartment, went grocery shopping, relaxed and set up everything in our place.

Today, we both had the day off so we got up and met my parents for a drive around orlando, walked around downtown disney, then came back here and went to the vista way pool party which turned into an indoor event because of the rain. this was so much fun, free food, free prizes, a dj, visits from minnie and goofy and of course meeting other cps. ( i highly recommend this!) :) after the party it hadnt begun raining yet, so Judy and I checked out Chatham's pool! ( super nicee!) now we are hanging out relaxing in our awesome apartment. Tomorrow Judy and I begin our traditions classes for our Jobs. Quick rewind since i didnt mention before... Judy will be doing housekeeping in the Grand Floridian ( a luxury hotel in disney world!) and i will be doing front desk cashier in the all-star sports resort! :)



I am so excited to be here (finally) and from the way things have begun know that i will have the greatest experience of my lifetime here and i cant wait to share more with all of you.

T-Minus 5 days and counting.. Till I Graduate College!!!

In 5 Days, This Saturday May 16, 2009 @ 4:00pm i will be sitting in a chair in the center of Western Hall attending my college graduation! I can't believe how fast these past four years have gone and I am excited to end this chapter and begin a new one!

Also, I begin my roadtrip to disney this Sunday May 17, 2009 and I am so excited.

For now, I have a busy week filled with finals, hanging out with friends, and preparing for graduation. My next post will probably be right after I arrive in disney and am settled into my new apartment!

OH Hey There Purple Folder... :)

Where have you been?

Hello there to my fellow followers and readers, some of you may be wondering, Where has she been?

I have not updated in awhile due to the stress of being a college senior and the anticipation of becoming a disney cp in a few short weeks.

but before my wonderful journey to visit the mouse can begin, i must devote all of my time and money to Western Illinois University. ( no fun!)

The past few weeks have consisted of papers, group projects, assignments, floor and work meetings, campus tours, and awards banquets on top of preparing for finals ahead and graduation. ahhh! so much to do, so little time, and so much stress.

Although it is tough right now, i know i can achieve decent grades in the end and graduate and be stress free and disney ready in a few weeks! ( cant wait for that! )

On a happier note, i finally recieved my purple folder in the mail last week, ( picture of me with the folder coming soon!) I mean it is a disney cp tradition! :)

I have also decided to bring my car to disney, due to the complaints i've found with the busses through disboards, and past cp's experiences. So, to make my life easier i will follow my parent's van in my little car all the way to the mouse's house! :) so exciting!

6 weeks and a few days later... I GOT ACCEPTED INTO THE DISNEY COLLEGE PROGRAM!!! :)

** A Note From My RA's on my Floor at school!** Thanks Ladies! :)

April 13, 2009 Approx 7:15 am or so,

i check my recently created gmail account on a whim that early in the morning and this is what i find:

It is a little hard to see, but thats right.. MY ACCEPTANCE LETTER FROM THE WALT DISNEY WORLD COLLEGE PROGRAM FINALLY ARRIVED!!!! There are no words to explain how happy i was as i read the very first word: CONGRATULATIONS! and from there on it was all just words on the screen and all i could do the whole time was smile. After recieving a pending letter the month before on the status of my application, having my friend get accepted into the program and reading message boards and other things online, I finally could let my feeling of it "never" happening go, and realize that i too am part of the disney magic!

After reading i did the first thing that came to mind before almost crying, and that was call my mom. Although it was around 7:15 am, i knew she would be up. As she answered the phone she seemed suprised to see that i was calling so early. The minute i told her i was accepted she almost went through the roof full of joy and excitement. She couldnt of been happier for me. It was truly a great moment not only for me, but for my mom as well! :)

Basically the rest of the day was spent telling my friends and family and celebrating with my friend that also got accepted and will be doing the program with me. It was one of the greatest days i have had in a VERY long time!

rewind for a second: for those of you that do not know what the disney college program is exactly i will break it down as short and sweet as i can! :)

- the disney college program is for those students enrolled in college and who are looking for an internship for college credit, or for work experience and a great thing to add to your resume.

- Disney provides housing for you for which is payed for by the money that they take out of your weekly paycheck. Prices vary by apartment.

- You get free admission to the parks for yourself, your friends, and family.

- There are discounts for castmembers on various things such as food, merch, hotel stays, and even off site locations.. etc.

- Any Major can apply.

- You get to work for the greatest company on earth. The most magical place on earth! :) and add it to your resume. For excellent chances at a job in the future.

- You get to meet people from all over the country/world and live in florida for 7 months.

I could go on and on forever!

Pretty much it's the greatest opportunity i could ask for especially at a time when i NEED it the most!

I will be graduating in 27 days ( may 16, 2009) and NEED this internship more than anything to complete my college education and recieve my degree in hotel/restaurant management or hospitality! It couldnt have come into place at any other perfect time than right now!

Also, I will be doing Hospitality in disney, which consists of working the front desk in one of the hotels there... etc. What a perfect role, since iam going to school for a degree in the field and all! :)

So as i close my first post on my new blog about the next 7 months i will spend in disney, there is alot to look forward to and alot of packing/getting ready to do.

I will arrive to check in at disney on May 20, 2009. I graduate Western Illinois University on May 16, 2009 and we begin our drive to Florida a mere 2 days after graduation.. May 18, 2009!

Cant wait to meet my fellow castmembers! :)
